theajsound: “Anymore”

Pop artists and their acoustic renditions! Kiwi singer/songwriter theajsound follows in the proud tradition of pop songs going acoustic. The original track “Anymore” was an infections pop jam that we couldn’t stop listening to.

Now, taking advantage of his natural vocal talent, freed of the dials and scales of a regular pop song, theajsound impresses. Simple plucks and strums of a well loved acoustic guitar and soft, far-off rattles make us feel like we’re being serenaded. This song is a reluctantly honest jam session, an outpouring of hard to admit reservations and regrets. The direct wording of the lyrics have the amusing effect of us both empathizing with the forlorn singer and feeling guilty as though we’re the distant lover!

In our opinion, theajsound should take a second look at more sessions in this vein, as he has the ability and lyricism to create great, if heartbroken, jams. Listen below, and tell us what you think of it on social media: @gasmaskmagazine.
