John Gallen is taking aim with his new single, “Enemy.”

A post on his Instagram page explained that the track is “John’s take on an uncomfortable dinner he had with a Libyan warlord. True story.”  From the look of the lyrics, that was definitely an unforgettable night.  He seems to have nothing but hatred for the man.  Gallen shares his anger and frustrations in lines like “I’d gladly take to a stick on the tie on your neck: It’s never tight enough” and “Don’t tell me sad stories bout your sad life, cos I don’t care.”  His animosity is heard loud and clear as he proclaims in the chorus, “You’re not the hero of this song, mister straw man. No, you’re the enemy of the people.”

Not only does the song have an interesting story behind it, the music also makes a statement with its retro style.  “Enemy” is a track off John Gallen’s latest album entitled 1970s.  The songs from the album are inspired by the music of that era.
