Los Angeles-based alt pop rock trio Before You Exit has delivered a powerful and moving performance on their inspiring new ballad, “Same Sun.”
While the world descends into chaos and unrest, music becomes a vital tool for conveying messages of unity and hope for a better tomorrow. Before You Exist offers us a song that serves to remind us that despite the harsh lines drawn and the differences we may perceive of each other, we all live and absorb energy from the same source of light. “I can’t be the only one who wants to see a world where every daughter and every son flood these streets with harmony and love,” lead vocalist Riley McDonough sings with breathy vocals that will send chills running down your spine.
This group of three singer-songwriter brothers writes and records all of their music from their home studio. They’ve traveled all over the world, performed at the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade alongside artists like Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift, and they’ve even headlined tours themselves. In just a short few years, the band has built up a solid career and released a beautiful album last year called love, pain, & retrospect.
“Same Sun” is the group’s first single since their debut album and we think it’s safe to say this may be their most sonically and lyrically sophisticated work yet. Although the bare bones of this song appear to be simple, the parred back melody and raw vocals swell with complex emotions. We can assure you that after listening to “Same Sun” just once will shift your perspective and help you start looking for a silver lining.
