Rap-country hybrids are having a moment! Born and raised in North Virginia, rapper Zye Young is no stranger to the farm life and on his latest release, “Take You Down,” the artist pays homage to his roots.

Young began his music career in 2012 and his known for his distinctive genre-bending tracks mixing Caribbean sounds with some rap and R&B. Earlier this year, Young released his sophomore album called I Am which is full of moody and sexy jams. “Take You Down” is a bit of a departure from what we know and love from Young, but we love a good vibe switch.

Young shows off his wide vocal range on this track, layering his signature silky R&B vocals with a deeper baritone that has a slight country twang. A solid hip-hop beat carries the rhythm of the song but Young has some plucky guitar thrown in there for an acoustic edge. This song should definitely inspire you to throw it back at the next hoedown. Who knew country-rap could make us feel some type of way? Now is as good a time as ever to break out those cowboy hats and boots!
