Ty Rell’s new single shares the name of a late ESPN anchor.
“Stuart Scott” not only drops a pop culture reference in the title but also in the lyrics. The track has some 90’s nostalgia with shoutouts to 2Pac and Biggie Smalls. Ty Rell articulates his thoughts with descriptive lyrics like, “I keep a small circle like a Scantron” and “My pockets was bulimic, how they got so obese.” He also uses graphic language to get his point across so some parents may want to wait until the kids are gone before cranking up the track. Ty Rell’s smooth flow and varied delivery add vigor to the music’s otherwise sultry sound.
If the song’s sexy beat sounds a little familiar, that’s because it’s a sample of Pharrell Williams’ 2007 hit, “Frontin’.” “Stuart Scott” is produced by The Diamond Shoppe Beats.
Ty Rell (aka Crucial) is a hip-hop artist and producer from Montgomery, Alabama.
