SpenDoe: “Foreign To Me”

April 23, 2021 | Writer: Eric Reyes

There’s that street-level spirit that hip-hop/rap is known for.

SpenDoe really puts his verse to work here, putting forth a solid stream of rhyme that doesn’t let up. Establishing his credentials as a man who works hard, and is hard, it’s a list of achievements and struggles that are told in passing, as though they are self-evident.

Building from this, the verse takes an interesting turn, departing from self-adulation and chest-thumping to direct infatuation. Speaking directly to the individual that caught their attention, the track builds the case for their mutual attraction and compatibility.

The life is the life, and he wants this person to know that they have a place in it, an important place, an essential place.

Give it a listen.
