What happens when doo-wop, jazz, and a little bit of Swedish pop combine? Sofi Bonde’s sweet new tune, “Angels Above” is what happens––and we’re totally here for it.

The Swedish singer moved to Paris from Sweden at the age of 17 to begin working on her first demo. A visit back home and a chance meeting with a guitarist led to a record deal. A few singles and an album later led to Bonde’s music being played on TV shows and movies including The Vampire Diaries, 90210, and When in Rome. Despite her success in America, the artist came down with a case of homesickness and moved back to Sweden where she now currently pens songs for American TV.

“Angels Above” is Blonde’s first solo single in a few years and it seems like the artist has decided to take us all on a nostalgia trip to kick off her return. The song is reminiscent of old-school, drowsy love songs from 50’s crooners like Dion and Paul Anka. Old-fashioned songwriting and twinkling instrumentals also give this track some classic flair. Bonde’s powerful vocals skyrocket this track into the new age with thrilling orchestral elements backing her up. Get ready to soar into the heavens after just one listen of “Angels Above.”
