Shui is the kind of artist I love talking about. And βGood For Youβ is the kind of track I love listening to, and then talking about, even more.
Atmosphere and tempo. Stellar, and glacial. Like the mist wafting off of a valley floor on a breezy day in autumn. Little to say, but really not much has to be said. A beautiful mix of improvised and electronic effects, like pebbles rattling down a long tin pipe onto an abandoned keyboard. This song sounds like that odd grace you feel waking up on a rainy day. Everything is softly lit, grey but not sad, quiet and still but very alive, you breathe heavily just to feel your lungs fill with and then expel air. Because you can feel it all. The rain, the sheets, the clouds, your lungs, the air.
Peaceful, beautiful. I got lost in this track over and over again, over the course of a couple hours, to the detriment of all of my other work. Thereβs no denying the feelings it evokes. Hard to put into words, but as I said at the outset, this style, this kind of artist, this track, is my favorite. Because it deserves it.
