Ever have those days where you are just over it all? The extremely relatable new single “Sick” from indie-rock band Sea Girls is best described as being a song that’s sick of, well everything.
“Sick” features honest lyrics that are entertaining and sad at the same time. The uniquely crafted tune begins with these lines, “I’m sick of being drunk. I’m sick of being sober. Sick of being in love. Sick of it being over.” There’s a lot of contradiction throughout, which I personally find amusing. It calls to mind that old saying, “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.” “Sick” takes an honest, straightforward approach that effectively touches on some heartfelt emotions.
The British four-guy group all met in high school, forming the band in 2015. There is a definite retro ‘80s vibe to their music, reminiscent vocally to The Cure.
Sea Girls will be releasing their second studio album, Homesick, on January 14, 2022, followed by European tour dates in March and April. I highly recommend listening to “Sick” available now for streaming.
