Boston-based rapper and singer Rapta makes wearing his heart on his sleeve look so good on his latest release, “Invitation.”
The up-and-coming artist shows off his versatility on this genre bending track that meshes smooth alt instrumentals with electronic hip hop beats. The soft strum of a guitar rings in the background as Rapta lays down his sentimental verses. “I don’t want to be the first one to text/I don’t wanna leave a personal message,” the rapper reveals that he’s afraid to reach out and tell his lover how he feels because he doesn’t know if she’ll reciprocate his emotions. In a world full of rappers who constantly project an air of confidence in their ego-boosting rhymes, it is refreshing to hear from an artist who is willing to tap into his own insecurities and speak genuinely about what he wants out of this relationship.
Rapta definitely shows off his production skills on this track by infusing a slight funk edge into what would otherwise be a chill and steady beat. The artist seamlessly transitions between a solid rap flow to silky, R&B-inflected vocals which proves that Rapta’s voice is just as multi-faceted as his sound. Members of the music industry have taken note of Rapta’s talents including KC Supreme, who has worked with Future and Lil Uzi Vert among other notable artists. Supreme produced “Invitation” alongside Rapta and helped the artist round out his sound. Rapta has already proven that he’s a capable of greatness, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for this young star.
