If you’re having withdrawals from society, look no further than Los Angeles-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Ran Pink’s latest track “Not Mad” to lift your spirits again.
The Grammy-nominated artist and owner of Fonogenic Studios has collaborated with and produced for wide variety of class acts from The Wallflowers to David Grohl. The sound engineer has been involved in a number of music projects since the late 90’s, but it wasn’t until 2018 that he released his solo work with the EP, “Therapy.” Since his debut record, Pink has spent time in the studio with Kid Bloom and finished enough songs left over from the last two years to put out his first full-length album, Guilty Pleasures.
“Not Mad” is one of the songs off this album born in quarantine, and we cannot get over how much we love this psychedelic electro-rock track. Looped drum patterns and dreamy guitar strums cast a bright glow over the entirety of the track with Pink’s retro-inflected vocals radiating at the center. In a hallucinatory cyclone of catchy riffs and staticky synths, Pink’s technicolor daydream comes to life. “I can’t stay mad at you/I don’t laugh without you,” Pink forgives all his lover’s sins when he realizes that love’s the only way to get through. “Not Mad” is a blast of pure ecstasy and euphoric glory from the very first note. Ran Pink is here to bring some of that Summer of Love spirit to Summer 2020.
