Go ahead and listen to Pat Burgener’s new single. “Rolling Backwards” is a mellow, guitar-driven track with a catchy chorus.
The song is more than just a relaxed vibe though, it has meaning. Burgener explained in an Instagram post that it’s about “When we think we make progress but keep making the same mistakes over and over again.” He added, “I wrote this song after my trip to Lebanon and wanna dedicate it to all those people suffering from wars.” The singer-songwriter’s honest vocals add authenticity to the words and show that they have a special place in his heart. The video for the song is an impactful as the lyrics. It starts off with the destruction of a city and continues on to show the devastation of war and its victims, all while rewinding or “rolling backwards” and doing it again.
Burgener co-wrote “Rolling Backwards” with Cotton and his brother Max Burgener. It’s a track off his recently released debut album entitled Pat The Album. Snowboarding fans may recognize Burgener as the talented 2-time Swiss Olympian.
