We’re not sure if Paper Idol’s neuroscience major in college had any effect on the way his music gets stuck in our heads, but all we know is that we can’t stop listening to his latest release, “Ready for Love.”
Milwaukee-native Matan Koplin-Green was once a student at Wesleyan University who scored a job at a medical technology company in Copenhagen. Then he decided to bite the bullet, move to Los Angeles, and pursue his dreams in music. Paper Idol writes, sings, records, and produces all of his own disco-inspired art pop.
“Ready for Love” is another smash hit from the solo artist. It’s got some funky synths, some alt-indie beats, and plenty of old-school vibes. We can easily picture Paper Idol bouncing around on stage in a thrifted jumpsuit getting everyone up on their feet. His lyrics are just as fun and weirdly wonderful as his production style with zany little storylines like, “Every time that I hang up the phone/You dial the extension/Ask the operator for the strongest stuff he has under the knife.” We can’t get enough of Paper Idol who has left our minds suspended in a 70’s daydream.
