The electro emo-pop producer Nxghtshade has teamed up with Kev Ghost and his band Ghost Town to give us a club-ready cover of Tegan and Sara’s indie-pop hit, “Walking With a Ghost.”
Nxghtshade, known for his upbeat remixes of punk and classic rock songs has given this moody Tegan and Sara original a hefty dose of 80’s inspired synths to brighten it up. Kev Ghost’s gritty vocals give this track a slight punk rock edge that seamlessly pairs with its refashioned high energy melody. Ghost’s edgy performance definitely amplifies the darkness brimming at the core of the song, but Nxghtshade’s bright production style keeps the track light-hearted. This way, the integrity of the original song is left intact even with some more positive vibes mixed in.
Despite the song’s melancholy tone in terms of its lyrics, Nxghtshade and Ghost have revived this haunted track with their cohesive energy. Nxghtshade has proved himself a master of converting emo tracks into dynamic club mixes. Ghost gives the song just the right amount of angst especially when he moans, “out of my mind, out of my mind.” Now, the song has come back to life as a feel-good dance track that might even be able to get some ghosts on the dance floor. Consider our spirits…lifted.
