I am always, always thrilled when I get to listen to some melodic Indie. Monteath scratched that oddly specific itch with their chilled-out groove in “That One Night.”
I love the passion for performing, for music, in their sound. From the layered, textured vocals that play around with range and register, to the energetic instrumentals, this is an act to see live. The storytelling element of their lyricism is what grabs you as well. It isn’t just noise, just pretty words, it’s a composition of sound and language to capture your imagination. As much as I love rock of the harder breed, I love the pacing, the craftsmanship of melodic indie rock. The bridges and breaks are more than a showcase for insane shredding or strange, animal cries. It’s another forge for their unique sound.
Sharpened and influenced by the members’ international background and travels, this is a group to watch, a group to see, a group not to miss. Stream the track below, and tell us what you think of it on social media at: @gasmaskmagazine.
