We’ll be blunt with you here; this song is an instant hit. Opening deceptively with four soft and drawn out notes, a sample and bass heavy beat drops hard alongside an equally deceptive verse. What at first sounds like a call out, a beef, drops back into a cataloguing of a relationship immediately fulfilling and meaningful. Transitioning so smoothly and effortlessly into a danceable pop bridge, then chorus, AND BACK to the gritty verse shouldn’t be as easy as Mapei makes it sound. From playful teasing to emotional openness to a borderline ultimatum, “Diamond” is sure to grab you early and keep you vibing.
