Mall Girl: “My Sweet Mall Girl”

Scandinavian synth-pop band Mall Girl is giving us butterflies with their charming new single, “My Sweet Mall Girl.”

The Oslo-based quartet started out as a jam-session that ended up turning into a full-fledged music career. The group has been recognized by a number of prominent industry professionals and they’ve had plenty of air play across various Norwegian radio stations.

With “My Sweet Mall Girl,” love is in the air, but the band can’t quite seem to catch it. On this track, Mall Girl finds unrequited love at everyone’s favorite shopping destination. Sugar coated guitar riffs and twinkling synths make this track irresistibly bright. Their rhythms filled with bouncing drum patterns and cheerful synths are reminiscent of 80’s soft pop but feel thoroughly modern at the same time. Bethany Forseth-Reichberg’s syrupy vocals may just make your heart skip a beat when she innocently asks, “do you need me like I need you?”

This fun and quirky track captures all of the pent of feelings of young love in under four minutes. We’re smitten with this track and we think you’ll love it, too, so do yourself a favor and get whisked away by “My Sweet Mall Girl.”
