Vancouver-based indie pop singer-songwriter Madison Olds has served us another bright-eyed, booming bop with her latest track, “Best Part of Me.”

Since 2017, Olds has been paving her way to becoming Canada’s next star. Her debut album, BLUE, released in 2019 introduced the world to the artist’s sweet and sexy harmonies and sentimental lyricism. Her pop grooves with an old soul caught the attention of people across the music industry, and the artist has opened for Willie Nelson and Kacey Musgraves among others.

Olds’s music hovers between folk and 80’s synth-pop, but her most recent release definitely airs heavy on the jubilant electro pop side. With a pulsing bassline filled with sparkling synths and drums to back her up, Olds passionately sings about learning to embrace herself instead of trying to please everyone else. For a while the artist relied on others to validate her and you can hear the pain and sorrow seep through when she asks, “When I’m happy do you like it?”

Olds seizes this opportunity to let go of everything she isn’t and instead embrace who she really is inside and out. Her empowering lyrics and uplifting melodies carry this track to new heights and show just how much growth Olds has made as an artist and as a person. “Best Part of Me” represents a new chapter in Olds’s career and we can’t wait to hear the greatness to come.
