“Something Real” is a new release from singer-songwriter Lenay. Like every good poem, this mellow song has lyrics of contradiction that are not what they seem.

In “Something Real,” Lenay sings about someone who has basically become a puppet, being what everyone wants them to be or thinks that they are. In turn, they don’t feel real at all. The vocals are delivered with a subtly effective unhappiness. You can feel in each lyric a longing to be something more than what she’s become.

Lenay used to be the host of MTV’s 10 on Top. She writes her songs on guitar and is currently working on her debut album.
