Laveda: “L”

It’s like we’re lost in a dream. There’s a cigarette endlessly burning on a windowsill, the cherry glowing and fading at a regular, rhythmic pace. The blinds are drawn, walls papered in posters for bands we’ve long forgotten the names of but never the sound. There’s a cheap light-globe on the ground, rotating in a lazy, clumsy circle. This is Laveda.

East Coast Dreampop and Shoegaze Rock duo Ali Genevich and Jake Brooks get it just right with “L”, the latest track from their debut album, “What Happens After.” Their lyrics evoke a kind of fatalistic innocence, reassuring but also final. Soothing, hypnotic vocals and blissful, reverb and echo-heavy guitar create a complex but cohesive sound for you to enjoy.

This is a singing/songwriting pair that is sure to become your new go-to for tune in, zone out vibes.
