Singer-songwriter Kyle McKearney is out with his new country ballad, “Sweet Summer Rain,” and I’m warning you that this one is a tear-jerker.
“Sweet Summer Rain” is a beautiful, but super-weepy song of love and loss. It tells the story of a man who is still mourning the death of his wife. He tries to drown the sorrow in work and booze, but the sweet summer rain keeps bringing back the pain of losing her. The melancholy melody, along with the emotional lyrics will tug at your heart strings until the very last guitar chord.
After years of touring with and writing for other artists, Kyle McKearney proves that he is ready to branch out on his own, delivering his unique Americana-style of music. His voice is very captivating with depth, sincerity and strength. I love how on the chorus of “Sweet Summer Rain,” he is joined with a soft female voice that blends in perfect harmony with his. It’s an excellent sweet-sad song.
At the end of September, Kyle McKearney will be performing two shows in Canada, in support of Down-Home, his debut album to be released this fall.
