Jessie Reid: “I’ve Got You”

This song gave us pause. Ostensibly about someone affirming a relationship, we felt a bittersweet pang in our hearts as Jessie Reid’s silky, dreamy voice sang us a reassuring lullaby.

We thought back to some of our darkest moments, moments when we felt like giving up, felt alone and unlovable. Then we thought of the enveloping arms and sure voices of the people that brought us out of it. The reassurance, the beautiful words of simple affection, of someone saying “I’ve Got You” like you’re the most important person in the world. It sounds corny, but we’re misty eyed while we write this. There’s almost an effect of catharsis from this harmony-rich track, the sleepy kick drum and cooing layered vocals the relaxed, unburdened feeling after you’ve cried. Don’t miss out on this wonderful, melodic release from Jessie Reid!
