You’ll want to “Stick Around” to hear Jacob Humber’s new single.
The track has an unexpected, catchy beat for its thought-provoking lyrics. The upbeat guitar and drums give the song an optimistic feel while the lyrics and vocals mellow it out. The lines “I’m tired of trying to find a reason, to why I feel the way I do” and “Cuz even in a room of friends, I’m wondering is this all over before it begins?” look inward to explain feelings. The Nashville based singer has a soothing voice that’s easy to listen to. His vocals easily connect to the introspective lyrics and emotion behind the song. Humber composed and lyricized the track with Julian Dente.
“Stick Around” is off Humber’s latest album Kodiak. He described the album in an Instagram post saying:
“this album is a collection of thoughts and conversations that took place fishing over the years with my dad on the island of Kodiak, AK. with more bears than people on the island, locals live in a survival culture. you bring fish to elders to save for the winter, and watch out for other fisherman as you encounter Kodiak grizzly bears. it’s intense, and conversations during slow moments often reflect this. i’ve learned more about myself and my dad on these trips than I have anywhere else. the space to exist and think out there is unique, and songs eventually came from my time there. I decided to wrap them all together into a project and call it Kodiak”
