An interesting audio pastiche of stylistic convention and original lyrical composition. Relying on a melding of a bass-heavy beat and a smoother, school-yard-rhyme and meter, Imtiaz Kibria delivers a delightful track in “Give Me The Loot.”
The experimentation in this single is really the lynch pin in the entire piece. The lyrical word play is engaging, buoyed by the smooth vocal performances accompanying it. Alternating between a harder, gruff beat and verbiage and a lighter, sleepy tone, the song takes chances. They pay off in unexpected ways, primarily in defying expectations of the genre and creating something new.
Imtiaz Kibria is a character and personality all his own, and as he develops his style and artistry, we can expect bigger and better things as we, and he, continue on this musical adventure. Stream the track below, and be sure to tell us what you think on social media at: @gasmaskmagazine.
