Australian singer-songwriter Harrison Storm helps us climb higher on his inspiring new folk track, “Breathe Again.”
Being raised in the quaint beachside town of Mornington clearly taught Storm the value of simplicity. Armed with acoustic guitar, simple drumbeats, and his own soaring vocals, Storm proves that the ‘less is more’ approach to music can lead to stunning results. On “Breathe Again,” Storm does add a bit more flair to his sound with the addition of subtle synths and echoing vocal effects. The result is a powerful and more polished sound that still retains the artist’s unpretentious style.
The story of this track centers around Storm coming to the realization that burying his emotions has had repercussions on others. “Saw my reflection written down in every line/Wasn’t easy to believe that I did that to you,” Storm confesses after receiving a message calling him out for his carelessness. The vulnerability exuding from his lyrics showcases the sophisticated tenderness of Storm’s songwriting on this track.
“Breathe Again” is introspective in terms of its lyrics but also its melodies which are clearly connected to Storm’s humble roots. The musician has truly outdone himself on this number, and we highly recommend you give it a listen. Stream the track below, and tell us what you think of it on social media at: @gasmaskmagazine.
