Griffith Junior: “My Superhero”

An anthem for the hurt, mascara-streaked anime-protagonist in all of us. Put it on repeat and dance with your hands held above your head, eyes clenched shut, all your feelings left out on the dance floor. I mean that’s how I felt.

Oh so emotional, so gripping, so easy to dance to! The wordplay here is so meaningful as well, the superhero monicker being a double-sided coin, something that could as easily hurt as rescue. So forlorn but oh my God the Vibe! The mix is very tastefully layered, textured with simple instrumentals and a synthwave, 80’s house beat to really keep hold of you. It doesn’t ever peter out or suddenly drop, leaving you hanging. This song is a trip, like a particularly arousing memory or dream in a humid room without a fan, something you wake up from sweaty, breathing heavy, just a little confused. And I love it.
