There are few genres that capture the dichotomy of love more perfectly than country. “It Was Love” by Ginger Cowgirl proves that once again. Hear it below!
Country is one of my favorite genre’s because it has such an amazing storytelling potential. The greats, like Willie, Johnny, and Loretta all knew how to spin a tale with heartbreak, humor, and relatability. A lot of this has disappeared from country — it’s become more and more like top 40 radio with a twang. I still listen to and love it, but Ginger Cowgirl taps into the older country tradition with her single, “It Was Love.” The lyrics depict a failed love with grace and perspective, making it one of my favorite songs of the year so far, because it takes advantage of country’s storytelling potential. In fact, we can’t wait to hear what Ginger Cowgirl has up her sleeves; be sure to keep an eye out for her! Listen to “It Was Love” below now!
