Freddie Long: “Fade”

Freddie Long is disarmingly handsome. There, I said it. Now let’s get to his music.

His smoky voice has a natural gravel to it that is often imitated but hard to nail. Male vocalists with this attractive natural quality may rely too heavily on it, or lean towards genres that have darker, heavier tones to try and compliment it. Freddie Long instead expresses the full range of his vocal talent and breaks from the moody, morose box other singers put themselves in with “Fade Away.” There is a hopeful determination to the lyrics, and Long’s shift to a lighter tone, mixed with the ever-present undertone of his natural, gruff voice, works well. Freddie Long has come up in the scene with an enthusiasm for his craft that is genuine. This, combined with his pleasing vocal quality will serve him well long into his promising career. Tell us what you think of it on social media at: @gasmaskmagazine.
