Elise Hayes proves that getting over a breakup isn’t easy in “The Hard Way.”
The song expresses how she can’t seem to get past that her relationship is over and is waiting for her ex to come back. She revisits her ex’s favorite haunt, hoping they will run into each other. She knows she needs to accept that her relationship is over, but is struggling to let go. The truthful lyrics are brought to life by her sweet vocals.
Hayes shared her feelings behind the song on her Facebook page saying, “Sometimes the moments that are the most heartbreaking are the ones where we have to be honest with ourselves, and that’s what this song is about it feels like a confession to me.”
Hayes co-wrote “The Hard Way” with Zarni de Vette and Jonny Mo. The Pop singer-songwriter also produced the track. The song is available on a variety of streaming services.
Fans in Nashville can check out of Elise Hayes’ upcoming performance at the Listening Room on Nov. 12.
