Elexis Ansley: “Amnesia”

Etherial. Thatโ€™s the easiest way I can describe โ€˜Amnesiaโ€™ by Elexis Ansley.

I felt like I got lost in the track. Clocking in at just a hair over three minutes, it felt like much longer. The vocals and mix are easy to get lost in, as I was. Maintaining a dreamy kind of energy throughout the run of the song, Elexis Ansleyโ€™s voice doesnโ€™t overwhelm.

Finding her stride early in the track, her vocals are dusky at times, keeping that darkness of tone throughout, even at the more intense points where the tempo spikes. She maintains a steady performance that rarely extends beyond the sultry purr that this trackโ€™s energy is married to.

The mix is very interesting here as well. It feels like a whirlwind of sound that envelops you during the chorus. It will drop away here and there in favor of a stripped-down beat, but come back strong and precise, with none of the clumsiness that a less well polished production might.

This is the product of an artist who knows their sound inside and out, building a given track around it as opposed to trying to conform their art to a set template. Definitely someone to watch and add to your playlist.
