Draumr is a sound that Is very hard to find in today’s soundscape. The minute I heard their newest release, “Elsewhere Forever” I thought of fellow dreamy experimental act M.E.W and their inimitable sound.
Relaxing, etherial, stunning. There are so many words I could use to describe this unique song. Gabriel Cheurfa has a stellar, sublime voice. It is soothing, bordering on mournful without losing the underlying zest and passion. His long, drawn out sighs at the end of every note are like ripples across the still surface of a lake, spreading outwards and filling every empty, lonely space. The stripped-down simplicity of the instrumentals backing him are like the old slow-jam bands of yore, there to enhance not overshadow, to elevate, to underline, and they do it well. I’ve become an instant fan, and you will too once you listen to this heartfelt ode to lo ve, to a beloved. Listen today and feel things. All of them. Feel everything.
