There’s a lot going on here.
Competing sounds, though friendly competition, like color bleeding through a sheet hung in the sunlight to dry, blending with the floral print and natural, coffee-colored discoloration of something well-traveled and well loved. Bringing out something unique through design and by accident.
Cenza captures something special in this sound and I can’t put my finger on it. There’s a sense of abandon, of going with the wind, with the flow, of just being. Of joy. Like fireworks over the ocean, echoing into the night and casting brief but brilliant reflections onto the endless, rippling surface.
There’s also a kind of nostalgic, retro vibe to it, but not by virtue of wanting to capture that likeness, but of innate sound. The vocal stylings remind me of the indie female-led acts of the early 00’s, where everything from folk, electronica, pop, and indie rock blended together to this wonderful pastiche of beautiful sounds. Hard to put your finger on, but not to contain or constrain it, but rather to understand it.
Instant fan, and to be honest the sound alone is what got me. Took me a couple tries to get the lyrics down, which are their own whirlwind of free wheeling, life loving, unhinged energies that they can’t easily be categorized either. I love this song, and you will too.
