I hope you like getting grabbed by the hair and getting thrashed around while someone shouts and pounds their fist into a mixing board. I mean I do but I’m weird like that. There’s really no other way to describe this Hype/Rep track dedicated to the sprawling, manic metropolis that is Miami. Oh, that’s also the name of the song, as in ‘Miami’ by BLVD. and Fatman Scoop.

After listing off every major section, neighborhood, suburb, flora, AND pork & beans for some reason (you can tell I’m not from Miami), the track continues out into a Hardstep assault on the senses. The beat builds and builds, then hits its stride somewhere around the same RPM as a bout of tachycardia. Threatening in aura and brutal in sound, it makes it personal, and you have no choice but to hold on for the ride. It feels so aggressive, but you get the sense of it being a direct tribute to the city, and the people, and that that aggressiveness is a purposeful reflection.

It passes the gym test, as well. I listened to this while at the gym and I found myself pounding on the benches or machines in rhythm to the song, and felt the drive and motivation that I usually try and draw from more mindless EDM/Hardbass tracks. But ‘Miami’ has a character all its own much like its namesake.
