Blackwave: “ARP299”

With influences from The Roots, Parliament-Funkadelic and Brockhampton, it comes to no surprise that Blackwave’s newest single is just as soulful!  ARP299 has a 90s sound that’s neither stale nor trendy. From Jay Atohoun’s rap to the trumpet performance and sample choices, the track mixes the old with the new. ARP299’s cinematic music video is a great watch as well!

Blackwave. (also known as Blackwavedot) is a Belgium-based hip hop duo. The team consists of rapper Jay Atohoun and singer-producer Willem Ardui. Blackwave. started releasing music in 2017 and the story behind their first album is unique. They finished their debut EPMic Check before meeting each other in person for the first time! Since then, the duo has been inseparable. Blackwave.’s had several popular tracks including Home (feat. Caleborate), Whasgood?!, and Swangin’.
