Beauty School is going to “Take It Slow” with their first single.
The song is about progression and the speed at which to move forward. A person may feel like they’re ready to go full steam ahead, but sometimes it’s best to take one step at a time. Front man Joe Cabrera told Rock Sound about the creation of the track saying, “‘Take It Slow’ is the brightest song we could write in the darkest days of our lives. The last 2 years have been a challenge. Not just for us in the band but for everyone, everywhere.” He added, “We are all just navigating one foot in front of the next making our way towards the light at the end of the tunnel. That’s what ‘Take It Slow’ symbolizes. That journey, that progression, always in the right direction. No matter how slow. That’s something we can all relate to right now.”
The relatable lyrics emphasize that sentiment with the catchy chorus of “Even though I’m getting better, I’m still told to take it slow.” The alternative rock song has an infectious sound (before you know it, you’re singing along to the track).
The band from Leeds, England describes themselves as “elder emos.” “Take It Slow” is their debut single as a band (members of the group were parts of other local Leeds bands before joining forces to form Beauty School). With “Take It Slow” as their first single, listeners are sure to be looking forward to what else they have in store. Beauty School is set to release their debut album entitled Happiness next year.
