Manchester-based pop rock group Amongst Wolves are pivoting in a new, more grand direction on their latest release, “Defender.”

The four-piece band have been lauded by critics and fans alike for their high energy, fine-tuned rock sound. Their lyrics are infused with hopeful insights and allusions to the band’s Christian faith. On “Defender,” the band touches on these themes which are set against a stunning backdrop of rollicking guitars and heavy bass. Front man Dan Jenkins throws all of his passion and force into his performance leaving us stunned by his thunderous vocals.

Drawing direct inspiration from Psalm 61 and the band’s personal experiences, the lyrics on “Defender” attempt to forge a deeper connection to this text. “When my heart grows faint/Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,” Jenkins cries out. “Defender” is definitely Amongst Wolves’ most powerful and stratospheric track to date. The song’s grandiose production style combined with its resounding message of hope makes for a meaningful listening experience. “Defender” proves that Amongst Wolves is hitting their stride, and we’re convinced that the best is yet to come.
