It was the American novelist John Irving who was once said, “[Your memory] hides things from you – and summons them to your recall with a will of its own. You think you have a memory; but it has you!”
Alex Spinney’s new song ‘I remember’, demonstrates this thought provoking notion in a heartfelt manner. Detailing the bittersweet reminiscing of a once happy relationship, we are painted a picture of yearning and heartache. Of how it feels when you are unable to let the memories of your former lover go. Building from a soft piece into a gospel like ballad, we are enchanted the whole way through. In the song, we are able to recognise not only Spinney’s soulful voice, but also his lyrical talent. With emotive lyrics that move the listener, it is impossible to not connect with ‘I Remember’ on some level or another.
Hailing from London, UK, Spinney’s musical talent has impressed us all. As a triple threat singer-songwriter-piano player, there is little doubt that Spinney will go far, and have us playing his songs on repeat. We look forward to future music from the talented Alex Spinney!
