Via Skies is an interstate indie duo releasing their debut album Horizons on October 27th to all streaming services. Award-winning singer-songwriter Jeff Gonzales (of Arizona) and guitarist and producer Chad Cussen (Indiana) make up the duo, whose single Reasons will be released later this month in anticipation of the album.
The pair formed in Mesa, AZ and later started recording in 2020 at Cussen’s studio. The Covid pandemic, complications from Gonzales’ epilepsy, and a cross-country move by Cussen all aided in delaying Horizons’ completion. Generally unfazed, both members were committed to finishing the album and continuing the band. A follow-up album is also planned.
Early opinions have mentioned Wilco and The National as somewhat comparable, but the combination of Gonzales’ songwriting and reflective lyrics, along with Cussen’s melodic guitar, arrangement, and production skills craft a truly authentic musical brew.
The band are eager for the release, and looking forward to upcoming live performances, both in-person and streaming.
